How often does your bar require Maintenance & Care?
It depends on your barbell coating and the climate conditions at your place.
Ceramic coated and stainless steel bars are quite resistant to corrosion and could do without maintenance frequently, can be done only if any small rust stain is spotted.
Black oxide and bright chrome coated bars provide mild oxidation resistivity and rust easily. They should be maintained every 15 – 30 days if your usage is regular.
It is highly recommended if you live in humid or damp/moisty regions. Corrosion is highly likely, especially in such places.
Easy Steps to maintain your barbell
Step 1: Clean the Chalk & Dust inside the knurl grooves
Use the Nylon bristle brush to remove the magnesia (chalk) or dirt & other dry debris on the bar.
If the chalk is settled deeper inside the knurl so that it is unable to brush off with the bare-brush in that case use some oil to get it wet & then it becomes easy to clean out.
Step 2: Apply the oil over the bar
Simply wipe t oil over the surface of the shaft & the sleeves, you can use the brush to work the oil into the knurling (before this make sure to clean the brush from chalk).
Step 3: Let the bar dry for 8-10 hours
Let the oil on the bar dry for 8-10 hours, so that the steel will soak the oil in and the bar will stay healthy.
Step 3: Wipe off the Excess Oil using a cloth
Take a microfiber cloth or dry towel (must be lint-free) to Wipe-Off the excess of oil over the bar.
Make sure the bar does not feel slick or oily before using.
The entire process takes around 5 – 15 minutes depending on your bar condition, leaving aside the span of 8-10 hours for drying.
